01 Rocketry

Project Meridian | Monash High Powered Rocketry

Launch of Project Meridian, a 10,000 ft student hybrid rocket for AURC 2026. I made the fibreglass couplers and carbon-fibre fin wrap, and did the vinyl-cut livery.

Tripoli Level 2 Certified

Certified Tripoli Level 2 in October 2026 with a GPS-tracked flight to 4,365 ft. Now working towards Level 3.

OpenRocket design of the L2 rocket: 86.5 cm long, 6 cm diameter, J250W motor, simulated apogee 4,764 ft

L2 | Simulation vs Flight

Designed and simulated in OpenRocket, then flown with a GPS tracker after losing my first L2 rocket. Predicted 4,764 ft and 807 ft/s; measured 4,365 ft and 745 ft/s, landing about 935 m from the pad. The ~8% shortfall likely came from extra drag (the airframe wasn’t sanded smooth enough) and strong wind on the day.

Tripoli Level 2 | First Attempt

My L2 attempt on a J250W motor, 4,100 ft simulated apogee. The parachute deployed, but tall crops and wind kept it lost after 11 hours of searching.

L1 | Custom Parachute

Custom 6-gore parachute in ripstop nylon and Nomex, sewn for a 4 m/s target descent. Recovered the rocket intact from ~2,700 ft, then compared simulation with flight data to refine the next design.

R-22 refrigeration heat pump experimental rig

Thermodynamics | R-22 Refrigeration Cycle Analysis

Analysed an R-22 vapour compression cycle across three test conditions (COP 1.46–1.98) using TESTA and first-law energy balances. Built a MATLAB model over condenser temperatures of 300–330 K, calibrating a reduced-order Carnot efficiency model to the experimental data and validating COP and compressor power trends.
